The Telangana State Civil Supplies Department, Government of Telangana, India, procures more than 100 million gunny bags annually for the procurement of paddy and the distribution of rice to the beneficiaries under the Paddy Distribution Scheme.
A lack of visibility in the movement of gunnies throughout the supply chain, which includes at various stages including procurement, rice mills, godowns, and distribution to fair price shops. This leads to major operational discrepancies in the tracking of bags in the supply chain system.

THE SOLUTION
Statwig developed an innovative blockchain layered solution to the TS Civil Supplies Department known as “FoodLedger” which tracks gunny bags at the unit level and finds the location of the bag where it exits. This solution leverages RFID and QR code-based tracking for gunny bags at unit level in the supply chain.
